There’s nothing more fun than taking a beautiful or fun fabric and using it on an old piece of furniture giving it new life. (Ok, so maybe sitting on said furniture eating bon bons while watching Game of Thrones is a little more fun..just saying.) While furniture makeovers are all the rage now with chalk paint and image transfers, the thing that kicks it up a notch is fabric. Fabric designers like Tracy Porter, Alexander Henry, and Michael Miller are doing some awesome, crazy things with textiles these days. Check it out:
Here are some great examples of furniture makeovers that say “WOW!”
By the way, you don’t have to use wild, bold patterns to make a piece stand out (I’m just showing you pieces that appeal to me;) because there are so many beautiful fabrics that make a statement based on what it’s put against. For example: the chair below uses a rustic grainsack cloth against a washed-out linen on a sweet Louis XV chair, so don’t be afraid to mix your fabrics.
Check out Wendy Conklin’s Etsy shop “ChairWhimsy” here. She has some AMAZING one-of-a-kind chairs that are simply stunning. I would definitely have any of her pieces in my home!
To get away from chairs for a minute, I also found some other furniture where fabric was used to give it a makeover.
I love this little side table and the mixture of elements used: paint, fabric, and nailhead trim. Super cute!
I actually have an entire dining room that I plan to makeover and will be asking for your input on picking fabrics, so stay tuned!
So my friend, tell me what you think of these projects. Or… if you’ve done your own furniture redo using fabric then comment below with the link and share with all of us!
